ICD-11: Just when you thought you were safe

If you happen to work within the healthcare industry, you may remember the recent efforts your fellow staff were involved in to deploy ICD-10 across your medical organization. Indeed, ICD-10, short for the International Classification of Diseases version 10, was rolled out in late 2015 culminating many months of hard work in preparation for its implementation. Now that the dust has settled, our friends at the World Health Organization (WHO) recently released the latest version of the ICD, known as ICD-11, to help folks begin preparing for its implementation. Organizations making use of the new disease classifications are expected to begin reporting using the new codes starting in 2022.
